Below you will find pots that were auctioned at the Mudville Show held Saturday, December 7, 2002.

Giraffe Vase

Five giraffes circle this pot, stretching their necks upwards searching for any tasty leaves the vase may contain. Watch out! Flowers you put inside may get nibbled! This pot is made of stoneware with a carved rim. This vase is 9 1/4" high and 4 1/2" wide. This pot sold for $550.

Red Crowned Crane Platter

Crane Crane

The only spot of color on this plate is the bright top patch on this red-crowned crane, an endangered species found in Japan. As they mate for life, cranes represent fidelity. The underside of this pot is black. This plate is 10 1/2" wide and 1 1/4"high. This pot sold for $475.

Kangaroo Platter

Kangaroos Kangaroos

These kangaroos are about to hop right off this carved rim plate. One of the kangaroos has a joey in it's pouch. The underside of this plate is a mottled brown. This plate is 10 1/4" wide and 1 1/4" high. This pot sold for $200.

Snake Jar

Snakes Snakes

Twisted together for warmth, these snakes are getting ready for winter. While lots of people hate snakes, many are environmentally beneficial and eat other creepy crawlies. This pot is made of red stoneware, the unglazed clay showing behind the snakes. This jar is 7 1/4" high and 6" wide. This pot sold for $300.

Black Cat Bowl

Black Cats Black Cats

All around this bowl, both inside and out, are wild-eyed black cats looking for trouble. This stoneware bowl is 3 1/4" high and 6 1/2" wide. This pot sold for $100.

Bat Vase

Bats Bats

This very dark vase will sit on a shelf unnoticed until someone shines a light on it and presto, there are the bats, hanging from the rim. These are another environmentally friendly but scary creature. Made of black stoneware with an unglazed background, this pot is glazed with a dark rust glaze that brightens when lit up. This pot sold for $140.

Zebra Finch Porcelain Jar

Zebra Finch Zebra Finch

A pair of zebra finch display their brilliant colors, surrounded by a border that provides a counterpoint to their feathery finery. This container is 3 1/2" high and 5 1/2" wide. This pot sold for $200.

Highland Calf Porcelain Jar

Highland Calf Highland Calf

A young Scottish Highland calf is up and about, investigating the world. The calf is painted over a matte glaze, making him look very soft. The surrounding glaze is very shiny making an interesting contrast. This container is 2 3/4" high and 4 3/4" wide. This pot sold for $110.

Conversing Ducks Porcelain Jar

These ducks look like they're having a bad hair day. The ducks are glazed in a matt while the background is shiny. The fuzzy quality of the feathers is caused by the meeting of the two glazes. This container is 2 3/4" high and 5 " wide. This pot sold for $150.

Fish Pitcher

Fish Pitcher Fish Pitcher

This pitcher should make you want to get out your fishing rod and get in a canoe! Maybe you'll catch a fish on this pitcher. A cream matte glaze is on the exterior and a shiny deep blue-green glaze covers the interior. This stoneware pitcher is 8 1/2" high and 5 1/2" wide and holds slightly less that 2 quarts. This pot sold for $5,300.

Shady Pond Pitcher

Shady Pond Shady Pond

Glazed in a multitude of greens, this pitcher is cool, like a spot of shade on a summer's day. The design is painted in different enamel-like glazes with a narrow black line separating the different colors. There is slight crawling of the glaze on the handle. This stoneware pitcher is 8 1/2" high and 6 " wide and holds slightly more than 2 quarts. This pot sold for $275.

Flying Bird Bowl

Flying Birds Flying Birds

With a hazy blue-grey sky behind them, a flock of sparrows and other brown birds take flight inside this bowl. The outside border is a ring of more soaring birds. This stoneware bowl is 8" wide and 2 3/4" high. This pot sold for $125.

Three Condiment Bowls

Three Bowls

Here's a group of three small stoneware bowls perfect for things like condiments, olives, or nuts. They have been decorated with enamel-like glazes for a brilliant, hard surface. The duck bowl is 4 1/4" by 1 1/4", the flower bowl is 4 1/2" by 1 1/2" and the fruit bowl is 4 1/2" by 2".

This delicate porcelain vase is just the place to hang out if you're a small white bunny. This little vase would be perfect on your breakfast table, holding a bunch of fresh flowers picked in the early morning. The inside of the vase is glazed a rosy pink. This pot is 5" high and 4" wide. This pot sold for $275.

Fishing Swans Vase

Tails up for this circle of swans as they search under the water for some tasty tidbits. This porcelain pot is glazed with a semi-matte on top and a shiny dark blue below. You have to look carefully to see the swans underwater when the pots is not under lights. This vase is 7 1/2" high and 4 3/4" wide. This pot sold for $225.

Meadow Salt Shaker

Three butterflies alight on top of the flowers on this salt shaker. Summer or winter, hold this little pot in your hand and you will be transported into a sunny meadow. The porcelain shaker is decorated with underglaze paints covered with a shiny transparent glaze. This pot is 3 1/2" high and 3" wide. This pot sold for $95.

Dancing Frogs Salt Shaker

Pretty parasols protect these dancing froggies from the sun. No need to worry about the ozone layer; just pick up a parasol and dance with the frogs. The porcelain shaker is decorated with underglaze paints covered with a shiny transparent glaze. This pot is 3 1/2" high and 3" wide. This pot sold for $110.

Hippo Salt Shaker

Four hippos, two mamas and two youngsters, crowd together on this hippo shaped salt shaker. Two egrets join the party on the rounded backs of the babies. The porcelain shaker is decorated with underglaze paints covered with a shiny transparent glaze. This shaker is 3 1/4" high and 3 1/4" wide. This pot sold for $160.

Spring is the time for lambs. The four little ones on this vase are ready to gambol, safe under the watchful eye of their moms. This pot is made of stoneware, glazed with a satin matte and painted with underglaze paints. This vase is 7" high and 4 1/2" wide. This pot sold for $600.

Rooster Vase

Ring around of roosters! Cock-a-doodle-do! These guys look like they are getting ready to crow. A study in black and white accented by their bright red combs, this pot is glazed a creamy matte and decorated with underglaze paints. This stoneware vase is 5 3/4 " high and 4" wide. This pot sold for $550.

Magpie Bowl

A flock of magpies congregate for some socializing. A solitary magpie is on the inside of the bowl, hoping to be first at snack-time. Made of dark red stoneware, this bowl is unglazed in the area above the birds. The interior is a glossy red gold. The pot is 5" wide and 2 3/4" high. This pot sold for $110.

Four alligators eagerly wait to snap up anything you put in this bowl. Watch your fingers! Made of a speckled stoneware, the inside glaze matches the skin of the alligators. The glazes are matte. This bowl is 6" wide and 3" high. This pot sold for $425.

Could this hen and pig be having a discussion about forming a promotional group supporting cereal for breakfast? Down with ham and eggs! The container is 6" wide and 3" high and made of porcelain. This pot sold for $120.

Raccoon Container

Is the coast clear? This young raccoon looks ready to leave the safety of his hiding place go out marauding. This container is 4 3/4" wide and 2 1/4" high and is made of porcelain. This pot sold for $190.

Spring Bouquet Night Light

A lush bouquet of flowers brings spring into any room. Softly colored flowers are painted on a satin matte glaze with underglaze paints. This pierced porcelain pot is 5 " wide and 4 1/2" high and is fitted with an snap-in electric socket. This pot sold for $450.



Toucan Night Light

Four brilliantly colored toucans perch among tropical fronds. These beautiful birds will watch over you during the night. Vibrant glazes were used on this glossy pierced porcelain pot. This pot is 4" wide and 5" high and has a snap-in electric socket. This pot sold for $150.



Owl Night Light

Owls under Pines Owls under Pines

Here we have a hearty rendition of the owlleleuia chorus by a group of feathered songsters under a deep blue night sky. The pines behind they have been carved into the porcelain and glazed with a transparent green glaze. The stars and moon are pierced to creat a gentle light from an electic snap-in socket. The pot is 4 1/4" wide and 4 3/4 " high. This pot sold for $400.
